Pictures: Estelle feat. Kanye West "American Boy" Video Shoot

| January 29, 2008 | 0 Comments

Pictures from Estelle’s (featuring Kanye West) “American Boy” video shoot.

Looks like Kanye came to the video set fresh from the Kid Sister concert, or vice versa. Or maybe he’s just really feeling that outfit.

You can check out some additional photos over at Kanye’s Blog. If you have time to waste, read some of the comments – they are completely preposterous.

Kanye Pops Up At Kid Sister's NYC Show

| January 28, 2008 | 0 Comments

This past weekend Kid Sister and the Cool Kids were in New York City for a show at the American Museum of Natural History. Apparently, when Kid Sis went into “Pro Nails”, Yeezy emerged from backstage to supply his guest verse.

(You know the one where he spits: “And they gon’ have me on Fake Shore Drive, in my pajamas”*)

‘Ye then went into a small set, cranking out such gems as “Can’t Tell Me Nothin”, “Good Life” and the ever-popular “Flashing Lights”

You can check out pictures of the event over at NickyDigital

*Yeeeah. He obviously doesn’t say Fake Shore Drive, but you know, I’m just sayin.

Common to title his next album The Believer

| January 25, 2008 | 0 Comments

File this under the Could Be Fake category, but over at the Okayplayer Boards (Ayo?), director Brian Atkins, of Gifted Films Inc. reports that Com Sense has decided to name his next album: The Believer.

Check:

Don’t get excited just yet because not a single song, beat, or lyric has been created for it as of yet, but it will be titled…

“The Believer”

Oh really? I thought Common was retiring?

I could go on with the cliché response, like “I don’t care what he calls it as long as No ID is producing and the album sounds like Resurrection”, but that would be too predictable, no?

I’m gonna go with…where’s the trailer? I thought all mixtapes, singles, press releases, photo shoots, albums and bar mitzvah’s came with trailers? These days trailers even have trailers (okay, that was one step too far).

Com, you’re SLACKIN’!

Sidenote: And for the record, the Doompostor Rumor > The Believer Rumor. I’m just sayin’

I’ve Created A Monster: The Doompostor Rumor

| January 24, 2008 | 0 Comments

So last night I posted my first “official” blog over at the esteemed URB.com. I decided to take another look at the whole Doompostor phenomenon that stared on Fake Shore Drive about a month ago.

Check:

Well, the response to this story was more than I could have ever anticipated. Within an hour of posting I began receiving emails from fans and DOOM stans all over the globe looking for confirmation – or some sort of statement regarding Doompostor. I informed each and every person that this was only hearsay and I had no idea if this information is accurate.

You can read the full story here

Since FSD is purposed as a Chicago Hip Hop Blog, I try to stay true to my goal of only bringing you Chicago-related content, but sometimes you have to stray when you have something good – and Doompostor turned out to be just that. I’ve had more responses to this story than any other post that I’ve done in FSD’s three months of existence (that’s it?)

So DOOM if you’re reading this (which he very well may be), we need answers.

Justin Timberlake a Cool Kids Stan?

Timberlake: Bringin’ ’88 back?

Ahhh…the smell of success – how sweet it is

The latest rumblings over at the URB blog (where you can find your boy doing some additional blogging, by the way – PLUG!) are that Justin “I Don’t Know Anything About Those Steroids Timbaland’s Been Taking” Timberlake is officially a Cool Kids STAN.

Brandon Perkins reports:

While the Cool Kids were in LA this weekend for our issue release party, some interesting biznass went down. According to Jesse Lee, an unofficial official in the Cool Kids’ camp, Mikey Rocks and Chuck Inglish were up in Lionel Richie’s studio (aka Joel and Benji Madden’s recording digs) when Chuck gets a call from Kenna. The Cool Kids had just left a lunch meeting with the experimental pop genius and suddenly, Justin Timberlake was screaming into Chuck’s ear via Kenna’s phone. JT goes on to tell the Cool Kids, now on spearker phone, that he loves the video for “Black Mags” (above) and will basically help them out anyway he can. Then Chuck asks JT to name all the fake things in the “Black Mags” video and after 20 minutes, Timberlake calls him back with the answer

Damn. Timberlake? Kenna? On a conference call – while at Lionel Richie’s studio? The fuck? My head would probably explode.

No word yet on if Timberlake is pushing skinny jeans at this time.
