Congratulations are definitely in order for budding Chicago emcee, MarVo, who took the #1 spot at the Chicago date for Tag Records Survival of the Freshest contest. After traveling to Philadelphia and placing third (apparently they were showing the Phillly natives all the “brotherly love” < – zing?), MarVo returned home for the undisputed Chi-Town title.
He won $5000 and a chance, along with 11 other finalists, to be seen and heard by Jermaine Dupri in the championship round.
So just to reiterate: MarVo went to a foreign city, placed third and then returned to his home turf for the crown. Pretty impressive stuff. Well done.

His release party for the mixtape is being held this Thursday evening from 7-10pm at Artistic Jeanius, with the official afterparty happening at the Funky Buddha Lounge.

GL the Great and Cold Hard (of Crucial Conflict) get together for a short jam session.
I’m officially trying to kick it with these dudes next time they are together. Hilarious.
What are they in? A bus? I also just caught that Cold Hard calls Nirvana – “Nevada”
Props to GL

Mic T was a guest on Real Talk Radio late last week and among other things discussed, he noted that he has recruited The Cool Kids for a remake of the legendary EPMD record, “Rampage”.
Captain Obvious: The Cool Kids will be playing the roles of Erick and Parrish while Mic will be acting as Todd Smith. If they do a video for the track, hopefully LL will show up this time.
I probably needed to clarify that for a few people. Sorry. Slow down, baby.
