This shit goes hard (pun intended and a big [II]). From the Notorious OST.
Props to Sir Legend
I’ve been in the studio with Verse and the Family Business crew a few times and these guys have a serious arsenal of music – tracks with Mikkey, GLC, Really Doe, J. Ivy just to name a few. Here’s a warm up record from Verse’s upcoming self-titled album which is set to drop in February.
Versatile feat. Wood – “Watch the Money Pile Up”
Shouts to TL!
It’s hard to keep something so hot under wraps for too long, I guess. I’m not sure how the Perajok blog got their hands on this, but it’s not the whole thing – only a :10 snippet. The track is a certified banger though, and those who attended GLC’s mixtape release party where treated to hearing the song in its entirety. Arrowstar (an originally member of the Go-Getter’s and the man behind “Honor Me”) produced the track, and absolutely killed it. I know it’s too short to really get a grasp, but I’m telling you, it’s crazy.

URB Magazine just contacted me to create a Top 10 list of my own for their website/magazine. So I figured instead of doing the corny “Top 10 Hip-Hop Albums of the Year”, which I did last year for my own site, and later found to be pretty damn corny, I wanted to try something different, and get everyone involved.
I want to do a Top 10 Moments in Chicago Hip-Hop list, but I’d like your input as well, so instead of just being my list, it will be the Fake Shore Drive Community List (or something like that).
Here are some of my picks so far, and please feel free to add to the list in the comments section and rip my thoughts to shreds. They gave me a due date of 12/2, so any and all help is greatly appreciated.
-Kanye releases an all auto-tune album, 808s & Heartbreak
-Bump J is arrested for Bank Robbery
-Rhymefest’s iPod is stolen by a mysterious stan named “Prometheus”
-Mikkey Halsted’s “Liquor Store” video is finally released
-Lupe Fiasco announces retirement and claims last album will be a three-disc swan song
-Trick Trick shows Yung Berg why the D is so cold
I need some others, so please feel free to chime in.
Chicago producers Da Internz are currently down in Miami knocking out some sessions with a handful of industry heavyweights. And last week, these guys were lucky enough to get in with Letoya Luckett, record, and enjoy some cupcakes (??!). I appreciate the invite fellas!
Ludacris recently had a show at the Highline Ballroom in Atlanta, and brought Shawnna out to do a couple joints with him. As Moon Dawg pointed out, she appears to be doing some risque “booty clapping” that I thought some of you may enjoy. I’ve also heard that Shawnna and Luda have a collabo album in the works.
Shouts to Moon Dawg for the assist. By the way, his latest mixtape, hosted by Willie the Kid, dropped today, and you can download it after the jump. As I just told him, some of the artists music I had for my mixtape he was given as well. Holding onto exclusives is hard labor. Oh well, back to the drawing board! 1. My favorite collab from these two is “G.O.D. (Gaining One’s Definition)” from One Day It Will All Make Sense, which as you may or may not know, is my favorite Common album (sue me). As you can tell, this one is a bit different.
Common feat. Cee-Lo – “Make My Day”
