This is a must download for those without this hard to find banger. Free Bump. The End.

Get off this guys swag, why don’t cha?
You may remember Big Nastee from his duet with GLC, “Rotate”, which we posted here on FSD last summer. The chorus of the song actually inspired the name for my “Rotate, Rotate” section down there on the side of the page. Don’t act like you don’t know.
Anyhoo, he’s back with a new track where he puts in requests for people to get off his swag.
Big Nastee – “Get Off My Swag”
Last night I checked out the Go ILL Showcase (shouts to Ptoda) at the Wild Hare, that featured a handful of up and coming local acts who performed their material for Timbuck2. A handful of FSD fan favorites were in the house including Versatile, Bullet and the homies from Illnature, and the showcase was hosted by Hustle Simmons.
One artist that performed last night, who currently has a song that’s picking up steam throughout the city, is Showtime, whose “Booty Dum Dum” took the title on Timbuck2’s Go ILL Radio last week. This is the first time I’ve received a copy of the record, so I wanted to post it on here to see what everyone thinks.

Khal over at Rock The Dub has been telling me about this Offshore Drilling compilation he’s putting together for quite some time now. He’s featuring various emcees from across the country rapping over Kid Hum’s Fossil Fuel album. And Khal, being the nice guy that he is, hit me with a snippet of the Chicago-centric, “The Ride”, featuring The Primeridian and Awdazcate. Look for Offshore Drilling to be coming soon to an internets near you.

No, unfortunately I don’t have a snippet, a sneak peak, or even a “making of” video, but I do have this pic of Vakill and ‘Fest at Soundscape Studios putting the finishing touches on “Beast Ballad”, which also features Crooked I, Juice and Nino Bless. The track will be featured on Va’s upcoming release, Armor of God.
Even more impressive than the lineup of lyrical monsters on this song, is the fact that Va was able to get ‘Fest and Juice on the same track.
I asked Vakill when it was coming and all he had to say was “Soon…very soon”
Not sure if this is the final cut or not, but somehow WSHH got their hands on it. Either way, here we go. I see you Traxster!
Shouts to Nello for the heads up.
Rhymefest is known for having mixtapes that push the boundaries of hip hop. From his breakout role on A Star Is Born to his last effort, the Michael Jackson-influenced Man In The Mirror, Che cuts no corners and treats each mixtape as if they were an actual album. The good news is that The Manual is no exception and follows in the footsteps of his previous releases. Rhymefest and Shadowkat gave me an early copy of The Manual, so I wanted to share my thoughts with you prior to its release, tentatively scheduled for next Monday (April 6th).
The mixtape was entirely produced by Scram Jones, with the exception of a couple tracks, which were handled by Animal House, Primo, et al. Scram reworks some of your favorite Golden Era gems including Nice & Smooth’s “Sometimes I Rhyme Slow”, The D.O.C.’s “The Formula” and MC Lyte’s “Paper Thin”
Taking it a step further, ‘Fest enlists a handful of Hip Hop’s GOAT’s, to join him on various tracks. From his verbal sparring with Big Daddy Kane on “Rhymefest vs. Big Daddy Kane” (which revisits “Warm It Up Kane”), to “Deal’s A Deal” featuring CL Smooth (which revisits “The Formula”). ‘Fest even goes as far as to remake Heavy D’s “Overweight Lover” (“Overpaid Lover”), which unfortunately does NOT include a guest shot from Waterbed Hev, which is disappointing because I’ve been wondering where Heavy has been since Boston Public.
Two of my personal favorites on the album are the Greg Nice-assisted “Party 4 Free” (Greg Nice just makes party records sound that much better. Word to the Beatnuts), and the “Native Tongue Medley”, which is actually a three song trilogy. Trust me when I say it, you’re going to be rewinding the “Native Tongue Medley” a few times…He’s discussing a lot of Chicago Hip Hop politics on this one. You’re gonna want to hear it.
Some of the songs on The Manual have already hit the web including “Coolness”, “RNQ (Prod. by DJ Premier)”, “Goin In (feat. Queen Latifah)” and the Chuck Hamilton diss “Supersonic”. Not to worry though, as there are 16 other never before heard tracks on there for your listening pleasure. It’s definitely worth your time, and better than most rappers actual releases these days.
