3D Da Yungsta is a rising force in the local rap scene. He meshes his Little Rock, Arkansas upbringing with his experience as a Northwestern University student, giving him tons of versatility. On 9/26 he began his “Better in 3D” campus tour at home in Evanston, where he performed several tracks from his latest mixtape, “Da Revival: Vol. 1″.

The press over the Derrion Albert murder has exploded in the last few days. I saw coverage of the incident on CNN and Sly Fox last night. It’s just a shame in took a videotaped killing to get mass media to at least act interested in the condition of black and brown kids.
Longshot dug up some unreleased material addressing the issue. The first track, “KKK (Kids Killing Kids)” discusses violence and murder within the CPS, while “Black Family” stresses the importance of and promotes unity within the Black family.

Here’s a grittier, recut and alternate version of Twista’s “American Gangster” video, off his Category F5 album. Despite the subject matter and message (which could be offensive to some), I absolutely love both clips. It’s raw energy and vivid imagery is what has driven many fans and followers to Twista over the years.
Props to PJ
Good for Lu, because I sure as hell wouldn’t attempt such a feat. I’m fine with watching documentaries about people who have the cojones [II] to do such a thing. I wonder who if his Sherpa will land a deal with FNF? Pow!
Climbing that figurative mountain on the road to success is a necessary evil, but Chi-Town rapper Lupe Fiasco has finalized plans to literally scale a mountain this coming January for the sake of charity.
In 2010, Lupe will join a team of celebrities lead by Ethiopian singer/producer Kenna, who will climb Mount Kilimanjaro as a part of the Summit on the Summit project. The celebrity-endorsed charity climb aims to bring light to the fact over a billion people worldwide are forced to live without clean drinking water.
Mikkey Halsted could very well be the Feature King of Chicago right now. Seriously. He’s popping up on everyone’s tracks these days. Don’t say he doesn’t put on for his city. Period. Here he hooks up with Mister Ed of the Soundscape Studios fam. Their collaboration is called “Only The Strong Survive”, and it’s akin to the Too $hort song of the same name.
Mister Ed and Mikk also got together to do a quick drop for the song’s premiere.
