Big news for the Chi. Tuesday, MTV will be bringing Sway and the rest of their crew to Chicago to film a two hour segment to help curb violence in Chicago. As part of this segment, David Banner, 9th Wonder, Naledge, Twista, Rhymefest and Skooda Chose are teaming up to shoot a video for their collaboration “Something’s Wrong” (which I’m guessing is a remix to this track) at George’s Music Room on the Westside. Various community leaders, celebrities and CPS students will be in attendance, and everyone is invited to come out and support the rally. But remember, this is to be a positive event, people – so no funny business. If anyone is interested in donating food or other items, please feel free to reach out to me and I’ll pass along the info. October 17th, 2009 (Chicago, IL) Due to the recent violent death of Derrion Albert and with fewer than 200 homicides since the beginning of the year killings in Chicago (www.chicagobreakingnews.com), these tragedies have not only attracted worldwide press, but major recording artists David Banner, Rhymefest, Naledge, Skooda Chose, 9th Wonder & Twista, have united to raise awareness of violence among urban youth within Chicago by organizing an Anti-Violence rally. The rally will serve as a creative canvas and backdrop for the video shoot of the release of the song “Something’s Wrong.”
On Tuesday, October 20th, 2009, (shoot time starts at 8:00am) at Georges Music Room, 3915 West Roosevelt Rd., Chicago Public School students, community organizations, churches and activists will gather together to unite and advocate for non-violence within the community as well as use the hip-hop art form as a catalyst for change and a platform for youth to engage in community activism.
