I’ve got 4 pairs of Rakim tickets to giveaway to the FSD Readers today. The show is this Saturday (October 10th) at the House of Blues in Chicago. It’s the LATE show. Also performing on the bill is Psalm One (with Mulatto Patriot), so come out and support your Chicago artists.
Buy your tickets here now (for those who don’t win)
You know the drill – send me an email with the subject RAKIM TIX, and the first four to do so, and answer the question correctly win. Here we go:
What one-time Southern Rap powerhouse label produced the remix to Ra’s “It’s Been A Long Time”.
Sidenote: I always thought it was an odd arrangement – but I liked it.
Contest is over. Props to the winners. The answer was “Suave House”
Lottery represents Chicago, but it looks like this video was filmed in Cali. But I’ve been wrong before.
My only request would be to see the female’s face (at least I think that’s a female. NHJIC) of the stems we watch throughout the video.

Euro Canadian P!
Pugslee recently hit the border for a tour date in BC – of course he was gonna drop some bars:
While Pugs Atomz was on tour with Dj Vadim in BC Canada he decided to kick 16 bars from British Columbia and anounce there new group with Sabira Jade (Singer) and Ste Keyz(keyboard player).
Race & Sim were down in the A last weekend to be a part of the A3C Festival. Chi-Town was most definitely in the buidling.
Be on the lookout for the “Takeuthere” video coming soon.
Mick Luter + Rashid Hadee + Big Wiz + Que B.I.L.L.A.H.
Produced by U.C. member Rashid Hadee
Word on the streets is that since the response to these U.C. records has been so strong, they’re all heading back to the lab together, so look for some new material from them to drop at the top of 2010.
That news is good news.
United Center – “Talk About This”
Props to Scrap Dirty
For his first FSD appearance he’s paired up with Twone G and Tony B.
Mikey Streets feat. Twone Gabz – “Still I Push” (Prod. by Tony Baines)
A highly entertaining video from the L.E.P./Bogus Boys and producers J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, who just so happened to be in Chicago over the weekend. In case you missed my interview with the League, check it out here.
JUSTICE League stopped by the Infared Records studio on Halsted to lace the Bogus Boys with a handful of beats (did he just say 17 beats?) – talk about a come out.
We’re even treated to a cameo from Chicago’s very own Brother Keith.
BTW, when is Infared taking me to the strip club with a Forever 21 bag filled with cash? Huh?
Video: Mikkey Halsted – "Liquor Store" + "Field N**** Blues" + Derrion Albert Speech + "Hello" Live @ A3C
I posted a small portion of Mikkey’s set from the A3C in Atlanta last weekend, and now Smoking Section has liberated his entire set. He runs through such favorites as “Liquor Store” (Prod. by 1120) , “Field N**** Blues” (Prod. by No ID) and “Hello” (Prod. by Don Cannon) . He also takes some time during his set to speak on the tragic murder of Derrion Albert and the violence plaguing the Chi. Looked like a helluva time.
I see you Mike Flo!
Okay, talk about an allstar lineup. RubyHornet gathered the Kidz In The Hall, Mikkey, Chip Tha Ripper and Donnis for “Fresh Academy” – where I flunked out.
The third installment of Closed Session takes us to the “Fresh Academy”. Holding office hours is the dynamic faculty of Chip Tha Ripper, Naledge, Mikkey Halsted, Donnis, and Double O. There’s really not much more to say. Enjoy the track and video below, recorded live at SoundScape Studios.

Freeway Maurice where you been?
Damn, I’d totally forgotten about Mo Mahon. I tell you, Bobby Roc runs up on people in front of the most random spots – this one being the Portage Theatre. Um?
Word to the 3 way call.
