I have three names for you. Sir Michael Rocks, J. Cole & Kanye West.
No, they are not working together. Wouldn’t that be pretty insane though? Kanye’s “Drive Slow” and J. Cole’s “Dreams” both sample Hank Crawford’s “Wildflower”, but did you realize that Michael’s “Batphone” does too? Produced by the Produktionix, Michael’s track (in my opinion) used the sample the most creatively. I almost didn’t recognize it. Contrary to popular belief, Kanye wasn’t the first to flip Hank Crawford’s classic. Tupac fans may argue that the Johnny J-produced “Shorty Gonna Be A Thug” from his All Eyez On Me album takes that spot but, “Project Mice” by Freddie Foxx used it before him. Even more recently, Boi-1da flipped it once again for Drake’s “Miss Me”. Yeah, that joint gets around. My only question is, which joint do you think used the sample the best? Listen for yourself and sound off.
Hank Crawford – “Wildflower”
Sir Michael Rocks – “Batphone”
Kanye West feat. GLC & Paul Wall – “Drive Slow”
so did eminem and tupac btw
I have to agree that the SMR version was used to most creatively out of the three. Sounds like ‘YE and ‘PAC just took a part straight from the original and put some drums and bass over it. I didn’t know that MISS ME sampled it to. I can’t even hear the sample in that beat. HANK’s gettin’ that licensing doe!
Kanye kept it pretty much the same lol…some diddy shit lol
In my opinion the SMR version is the better
Tupac and Eminem also sampled this

Anything is Everything – Dynospectrum (the old group from ’99 with slug in it)
My all time favorite.
