Kanye West @ CFDA Awards, 6/6/11
Tonight, thanks in part to this tweet, Chicago Twitter was abuzz that Kanye West stepped into the Big Sean Finally Famous listening session in NYC wearing a fresh 150 – or Buck Fifty – hat. I figured it was only a matter of time before Wing Ding’s crossed over into the mainstream masses thanks to a famous Chicagoan, and thought tonight might be that moment. I thought wrong.
Possibly inspired by the exotic-skin brim of the 150, Don C and Mitchell & Ness have dropped (for the fabulous and exclusive crowd, of course) a line of python snapbacks. Kanye actually wore a Bulls-inspired cap to the CFDA Awards last night, and apparently had on a similar Mavs cap tonight. Too bad, so sad for the 150 enthusiasts, although I’m sure they’d prefer to keep this a hidden Cook County treasure.
