You may remember a few months ago we reported that Paypa’s (not of Project Mayhem) label heads were indicted for running a drug ring. Paypa finally speaks on the issue with his latest track “Controversy.”
Chicago emcee PAYPA was last spotted in the news for something other than his music when the owners of his record label Behind Da Scenes Entertainment were indicted in a drug ring. The rapper – now signed to SRC – has surpassed the controversy he was wrongfully thrown into and discusses moving past it on his new track “Controversy”. The cut, produced by Evan “Emac” Palmer will appear on PAYPA’s upcoming mixtape that serves as a precursor to his long-awaited debut album.

If you’re like me and follow both Machine Gun Kelly & Na Palm, you probably remember seeing them talking about a collab a few months ago. Well, after quite the wait it’s finally here, and it kills. Na Palm & MGK combined forces at Force One Seven Studios in Chicago with producer Na’el to create this summer party track. Gearing up for his newest project (Electronic Chronic) to be released: the highly anticipated follow up to “Dirty Girls Like Dirty Beats” Na Palm is dropping this track. W & L Management was given this exclusive release. Check out the “making of” video above, and go bump this by the pool.
Thelonious Martin aka 1Up has unleashed his newest beat tape, [Super], onto the world today and I must say that it has been eagerly anticipated. From what I’ve heard so far (3 beats in) the tape is very soulful and I’m diggin what I’m hearing. Also, judging on his past beats and beat tapes this right here is definitely a must listen. This is his 7th beat tape in the last 365 days and although the kid just got out out of high school he’s been putting in work on the music side. According to Mr. Martin this project is an ode to late nights and the (mis)adventures we sometimes take during the odd hours of the day. Sit back and enjoy and if you actually know how to rap, maybe you can take on one of these beats as a challenge… After the jump is a video further explaining [Super] as well as the track listing.
It’s official. Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Music is officially a label after signing an exclusive long-term worldwide label agreement with the Island Def Jam Music Group. The first release under the new agreement is Big Sean’s Finally Famous album, which hits stores and digital retailers tomorrow.
Barry Weis, Chairman/CEO of Universal Motown Republic Group and IDMG had this to say:
“G.O.O.D. Music is an exciting new chapter in the long and successful association of Kanye West and Island Def Jam,” said Mr. Weiss. “As a recording artist and a producer over the past eight years, there is no one who has made a greater impression on the game than Kanye. We look forward to working closely with the new and established artists that he will be bringing to G.O.O.D. Music, which is already off to an impressive start with Big Sean.”
Congrats to ‘Ye and company.

Off Gibbs & Selek’s Lord Giveth, Lord Taketh Away EP which is available now. I copped the EP last week and it’s a solid piece of work. Gibbs is rapping his ass off on there and keeps getting better on the m-i-c – not that he needed any improvement.
