Yesterday’s Pitchfork Music Fest might have been the wettest and muddiest in history, but it was still a huge success from a hip-hop standpoint. Two of rap’s most buzz-worthy artists, ASAP Rocky and Big KRIT, both performed during high profile slots on day one.
Rocky’s ASAP Mob hit the stage just prior to the “pretty motherfvcker,” and it was truly a family affair, as Rocky’s Chi-City cohorts, the L.E.P. Bogus Boys and Spenzo, also joined in on the action. It started to pour just as Rocky grabbed the mic, but the crowd didn’t seem to care. ASAP ran through his string of hits before stagediving and having to break up a brawl in the muddy mosh pit. “Goldie,” “Pesos,” and “Hands On The Wheel” all received a great reactions from the crowd, and above we have some footage of “Bass” — you can see just how wild it was.
Hip-Hop returns to Pitchfork on day two as Danny Brown and Schoolboy Q both take the stage today at 7:40 and 5:45, respectively. Be sure to hit Union Park around 1pm.
