Over the course of the next month, FSD will be bringing you exclusive content from VH1′s new hit series, SMIRNOFF’s Master of The Mix. The show pits the top DJs from around the country against each other to find out exactly who is the master of the mix. The DJs will perform in a packed club in Miami in front of an esteemed panel of judges including Mia Moretti, Kid Capri and Ben Maddahi.
Fake Shore Drive will be bringing you weekly recaps of SMIRNOFF’s MOTM episodes, as well as exclusive playlists, interviews and content from the program. We’ve also been paired with a DJ from the MOTM, with FSD repping the work of DJ Dynamix. Hit the jump for a review of episode seven.
Master of the Mix airs every Monday at 11PM CST/12AM EST on VH1

For those who can’t read between the lines, the video represents our boy, DJ Dynamix, being sent home from the show. Unfortunately, last night, or homie had his “record scratched” after a strong run. Dynamix was a great competitor throughout the series, but last night he slipped up a bit. Hey, it happens. But he’ll always be the Master of The Mix to us.
Last night was the toughest competition yet — by far. It was called ‘Bend The 10’ every DJ was given 10 songs that they had to incorporate cohesively into their set. Now, you may think this sounds relatively easy, but given the nature of the songs selected, it was a tough task. Dynamix going into it even remarked that it was going to be the “most difficult challenge to date.”
The tracks ranged from stuff from Method Man, Jesse J, Dennis Ferrar, Grover Washington, Queen and more. So the genres were all over the board. DJ Loczi won last night’s competition, and absolutely blew it out of the park. As soon as his set hit I knew it was a wrap for everyone else. He reworked every song with his own production and blended everything seamlessly. Even Ben, who is by far the pickiest of the judges and the toughest critic, said he did an excellent job. He had the crowd — and judges — behind him and that’s what it takes to win. Kris Carns, Jayceeoh, Incrediboi will also live to fight another day.
So as a parting gift from Dynamix, he’s put together an exclusive pre-game mix specifically for the FSD readers. Use this at your own discretion — either before or after the show, or when you’re pre-gaming with your friends. You can stream and download it right here. It’s very solid.
And finally, we have an exit interview with Dynamix. It was great while it lasted. Until next time.
