5. Caleb James – The Jones
R. Caleb is making incredible music, and if you’re not paying attention, don’t say we didn’t warn you. The Jones was Caleb’s first foray into the Rap&B genre, and his beat selections, melodies and presence evoke the feeling of a bygone era of music. The Jones is 2013 jiggy — point blank, period. If you loved the sample-heavy hip-hop created by the likes of Bad Boy back in the 90s, then this is right up your alley. It’s part Ma$e, part R. Kelly, and 100% fun. With all of the negativity surrounding Chicago hip-hop, Caleb’s The Jones was a welcomed alternative and a refreshing concoction of party starters and thug ballads. The Jones was a good time — something we all should be having more of.
