3. Vic Mensa – INNANETAPE
As we all know now, Kids These Days broke up earlier this year. Most lead singers finding themselves in the similar situation of Vic Mensa would’ve crumbled. That’s a lot of weight on your shoulders to deal with at a young age. Depression, disappointment and confusion are all feelings most of us would’ve experienced at that time, but Vic rose from the ashes triumphantly to make the very best music of his career.
Vic saw a great deal of success in the music industry with KTD, but INNANETAPE was his true breakthrough. The project landed on most credible year end lists, secured him a slot on tour with J. Cole and Wale, earned him partnerships with big brands, and has labels and industry types beating his door down (yet again). TAPE is pretty much flawless from front to back, and shined bright when most would have faded to black.
