This is dope. Jeff Staple is the founder/owner/bossman of Staple Design, Staple Clothing and the Reed Space in NYC. If you’re ever in the LES I highly suggest you check it out — I drop by just about every time I’m in the Big Apple. Anyhoo, 15 years ago Jeff Staple actually designed the artwork for one of my favorite Common singles ever, “1-9-9-9,” from the Soundbombing II compilation which dropped through Rawkus. Literally, I was probably banging that project/song on this exact day 15 years ago.
Here they reconnect to discuss Com’s career, his various projects and his latest masterpiece, Nobody’s Smiling, which is in stores and available online today. The question is, does Com remember working on that art with him or nah? Ha!
