St. Louis-born, Chicago-residing soon-to-be-superstar, Smino, has been going crazy lately. From sold out shows in NYC t0 high profile slots at Lollapalooza, the world is quickly catching on to his Midwest greatness. And that was just within the last two weeks.
To cap off his recent run, today he covers Chicago’s Red Eye newspaper. Josh Terry did a very dope in-depth feature, which you can sample below and read in full here.
More or less since 2010, Smino has made Chicago his main musical home. He just played a rapturous set at Lollapalooza, re-released his phenomenal EP “BlkJuptr” a couple of months ago and is gearing up to drop his anticipated full-length, which is tentatively titled “Zero Fatigue,” this fall.
When we sat down at Classick Studios, Smino was excited, telling me, “Today’s a good day for me because, God damn, I’m pretty much done my project. I just got a lot I can say.” 2016 seems like Smino’s year, and with both his St. Louis family and his new Chicago-based Zero Fatigue crew (his longtime producer Monte Booker, singer Ravyn Lenae, Classick and more) behind him, he’s ready to take it all.
