L.E.P. Bogus Boys Talk Kanye West Shout Out, Track Collaboration

While in New York, The Bogus Boys linked up with XXL to talk about ‘Ye shouting them out on the “I Don’t Like” remix and the duo’s collaboration with Yeezy, which will be featured on Don’t Feed Da Killaz Vol. 4.

XXL: “That was big,” Count told XXLMag.com. “We knew Kanye since way back, before Rocafella.” We been messin’ with Kanye for some years, though, so Kanye has always been the homie, so we definitely appreciate Kanye for shouting us out,” Moonie added.

The two Chi-town acts are even taking their mutual respect a step further, by collaborating on a record. “Not The Same” featuring ’Ye is expected to appear on L.E.P.’s upcoming mixtape, Don’t Feed Da Killaz 4.

“He looked out for us like, ‘I got a song for y’all that I think will fit you good,’” Moonie said. “He sent it over. He did the verse, he did the beat and he did the hook. He didn’t have to do a song with us, but with us being longtime friends…one hand wash the other,” he continued. “Whatever we could do for Kanye on the back end, we there.”

I actually had the pleasure of hearing this record a few months ago and I can assure you that it’s a problem. DFDK4 is scheduled to impact in late June, so stay tuned for the FSD preview.

Video: ASAP Rocky Brings Out L.E.P. Bogus Boys Despite CPD Ban

Tonight, Chicago’s RSVP Gallery, held a show at the House of Blues, featuring Virgil Abloh’s DJ collective, BEEN TRILL, @IBHAPPY and the headliner ASAP Rocky.

If you’ve been following the site,  you’re more than familiar with the Chicago Police Department’s/House of Blues’ ban of the Bogus Boys from performing on the bill. Late last week, the venue or the CPD (it’s still not clear) deemed L.E.P.’s music too violent, and banned them for performing as part of the concert.

Well, as a big middle finger to the system, ASAP Rocky and the ASAP Mob brought out the L.E.P. Bogus Boys to close out their set. Count and Moonie absolutely brought the House (of Blues) down with their staple “Chicago N*****,”  followed by a “FUCK CPD” chant (while Rocky crowd surfed) and their new single “Benjamin Frankin.” You can’t keep a Bogus Boy down — print that.

Directly after the Bogus Boys surprised the crowd and performed their hits, Chief Keef’s GBE crew (sans Keef, of course) with Fredo Santana and SD joined ASAP for “I Don’t Like.” The grouping of the ASAP Mob, L.E.P. Bogus Boys and GBE in one place almost broke the stage, and the House of Blues shut the show down within a matter of seconds.

Speaking as a seasoned vet of rap concerts, this was far and away the best show I’ve seen thus far in 2012. Rumors swirled that Kanye West, Big Sean and Pusha T were too attend, but honestly, they weren’t needed tonight. It was that dope.

Hit the jump for “I Don’t Like”

House Of Blues Admits To Canceling L.E.P. Bogus Boys Appearance

Last week, the Chicago hip-hop community was up in arms over allegations that the Chicago Police Department had barred the L.E.P. Bogus Boys from performing alongside ASAP Rocky on May 3 at the House of Blues.

On Friday, the CPD issued a statement claiming no involvement in the removal of the Bogus Boys. In turn, L.E.P. released the email sent to them by House of Blues reps, stating “local authorities have come do us after doing some research on LEP and made it clear that we are not going to be able to have them on the bill for A$AP Rocky.”

Well today, the House of Blues admitted to the Chicago Tribune that they were behind the ban, and the local authorities had no involvement. An interesting turn of events, for an extremely bizarre and twisted tale. Was it really that serious?

L.E.P. Bogus Boys Respond To The CPD’s Claim Of False Story

This afternoon, the Chicago Police Department released a statement denying any involvement in the banning of the L.E.P. Bogus Boys from the House of Blues on May 3. In case you missed the story yesterday, the Bogus Boys were removed from the bill of the BEEN TRILL & ASAP Rocky Show at the House of Blues on May 3, due to the violent nature of their lyrics. Allegedly, the Chicago Police Department contacted the House of Blues and said the show would be shut down if the Bogus Boys took the stage.

In the CPD’s statement, released to Marina City Online, they claim:

“We don’t monitor musical acts,” said Lieutenant Maureen Biggane, Commanding Officer of CPD’s news affairs department, on Friday. “In the event that we are made aware of a popular performer or act coming to town, we may adjust manpower to ensure the public safety of the community surrounding the venue.”

In response to Marina City and the CPD’s claim that the ban was bogus, Infared Music has decided to release the email sent from the House of Blues to the promoter:
