Just when you thought it was over, the saga continues…
Today, a confirmed third Banksy piece was found in Chicago on 16th Street between Carpenter & Racine. This picture was posted on Banksy’s site last Friday alongside the Untouchables piece, but it hadn’t been located until today by the good folks at The Maxwell Collete Gallery. They really must’ve sent out the dogs to find this one.
The newly confirmed work is comprised of a section of concrete that has eroded so it looks like a head with a crevasse for a mouth. Banksy has noticed this naturally occurring formation and added spray painted eyes to the face. He has also added a stenciled word bubble in which he has hand written the words “you concrete me” in oilstick. The overall effect is like a giant street cartoon come to life. Banksy has once again given a voice to an inanimate object and the voice speaks the kind of pun that Banksy’s work often embodies.
Banksy is a monster. Literally.
