LET THE LASERS GO!

Posted on July 22, 2010 by Andrew Barber

Someone needs to make a t-shirt with that slogan on it as if this was 1999 and he was trying to get off Bad Boy.  Aye!

Anyhoo, by now I’m sure you’ve heard one way or another that there’s a petition floating around the internets urging Atlanic Records to release Lupe’s third album Lasers.  The album is done and the house that Ahmet Ertegün built is dragging its feet.  Lupe fans and stans weren’t going to take this one sitting down, so a petition was formed and is currently circling the net.

What I can’t understand is why Atlantic is being so hesitant on Lasers?  Lu is a blue chip emcee right now and is bigger than ever.   Maybe Atlantic thinks the album is too artistic, under the Jive Records/Big Boi act?  Hell, I dunno, but I did sign the petition.  Does anyone think this will help?

To: Atlantic Records

Dear Atlantic Records,

The fans have been below have been waiting for the release for Lupe Fiasco’s album “Lasers” for over a good year now. Since when it was originally announced finished last summer, there has still yet to be a release date announced. It has even been stated by Lupe Fiasco the artist himself, that the album si in fact completed. Enough is enough, we demand that you stop playing around and give us the album that we have been highly anticipating since the release of The Cool.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned

Not a fan of Lupe but a fan of the culture and a fan of Chicago progressing!
Let that man live. WTF. Why sit on product for 6 months without even a hint of “set up” out there?

Come to think of it….this may be one big viral marketing scheme people are playing into.
Lupe has never been a “budget buster” on albums like less talented artists(*cough!* Rick Ross) and this IS a creative way to get people talking.
    I unno….*shrug*

this isn’t viral marketing at all, the guy who started the petition has been posting on the lupend blog for years. If anything, it’s the fans trying to market the album to give atlantic an incentive to release it

Lupe’s got 4 Black Belts, he started when he was 4. When he was young he hung with a big Colombian named Lupe (yes) but a nerd needs a back up plan!!!
