After Lupe let loose his “Victory” tweet yesterday featuring a picture of himself cuddled up alongside Atlantic Records boss, Julie Greenwald, I figured that meant good news was on the horizon for Lasers. Well, yes and no. The good news – Lasers finally has a release date, but cot damn, that’s six months away! March 8, 2011? I kinda feel like Ralphie from A Christmas Story when he decodes that secret message only to find “Be Sure To Drink Your Ovaltine” staring him in the face.
Yes, it’s great that Atlantic gave Lu a release date, but how firm is this? Is there a guarantee against pushbacks and delays? Absolutely not. Or are they doing this to quiet the irate fans (and dead “Fiasco Friday”) and calm the shit storm that erupted once Lupe announced they tried to force him to sign a 360 deal?
