Late last night I received some very, very sad news regarding Chicago MC and Beanie Sigel-affiliate, King The Hood Savior.
King a.k.a. Ronald Collier passed away last night around 10pm.
Elsewhere, a 25-year-old man identified by police as Ronald Collier, of the 7800 block of South Winchester Avenue, was pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital at 9:58 p.m. , said Police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.
Collier was found with a gunshot wound under his left arm at 9:20 p.m. on the 8700 block of South Ada Street in the Gresham neighborhood, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro. He flagged down a passerby, who took him to 7900 South State, from where police were notified. Collier was later pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital about 40 minutes later.
Police could not say precisely where the victim was taken before being transported to the hospital, but Internet maps show a gas station off the Dan Ryan Expressway and an “L” station near that address.
This, of course, is a tragedy as it’s always sad to see a young man pass on this way. In our interview with King last month, he discussed a lot of promising projects and ventures in the works – including being Beanie Sigel’s first artist on State Property Chicago. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this time.
I actually spoke with King just three days ago as he sent me an advance copy of his latest mixtape, hosted by DJ Pharris. He wanted me to post it sometime this week. Unfortunately, King won’t be around to see it.

Impakt studio had the opportunity to work with King on several occasions including the above photo which we shot while location scouting for his video “trap house”. I clearly remember the video shoot as i remember the 1st scene we were shooting was a stedicam shot and i told king to follow me as we walk past a group of his guys we started the music and started waliking when i noticed king wasnt keeping up with me so i yelled cut and asked him why he couldnt keep up with me when he casually mentions that he had been shot the day before but he didnt want to cancel the video shoot and that is a true testament to his work ethic he will be truly missed. The entire Impakt studio family offers our condolences to his family and friends he will be missed.
