Young General feat. Mikkey Halsted, Twone Gabz & Lee England Jr. – White Sox Fitted

Posted on October 1, 2010 by Andrew Barber

One half of BLX link with Young General and Lee England Jr. for an ode to the choice fitted of Chicago’s Hip-Hop community – just in time for the end of their season.

Look for the Brandon “N2ition” Riley-directed video coming soon.  Hit the jump for the press release.

Young General feat. Mikkey Halsted, Twone Gabz – White Sox Fitted

Young General and Let’s Get It Records are proud to announce the release of “White Sox Fitted,” a new-aged anthem for the city of Chicago. Featuring performances from Mikkey Halsted, Twone Gabz, and Lee England Jr., the Volcano-produced track is a next-step project for the Chicago MC, in no small part because it is the manifestation of his American metropolitan conversion. This song seals it: despite his 28 years in Minneapolis and deep Detroit roots, Young General is now officially Chicago.

“I’m just happy to have a song that I feel represents my talent,” General said in a recent interview. “This is a song that fits me, fits what I’m trying to do.” With a video from Brandon “N2ition” Riley and other Chicago heavy-hitters already signing on for remixes, Young General’s assessment is spot on: the song, like its subject matter, is a perfect fit.

This song has a lot of potential…it could be huge…but there is one thing stopping it….they dont stick to the subject enough to make it the anthem it could potentially be. Mikkey is the only one who did it right. Twone snapped as usual with the wordplay….but he should have had more lines about the subject at hand. The first dude is all wrong…he should have kicked the song off talkin about the fitted cap and Chicago….but I guess when you’re from Minnesota you cant do that..lol. But overall this is radio ready…it just needs to be re-written.

Song is super dope. I’m glad it’s not about baseball at all. The song focuses more on the people who wear the White Sox fitted. Def a Chicago anthem.

No shit sherlock!!But it doesnt even talk about the people who wear the fitteds….its talking about a whole bunch of miscellaneous shit. Nobody wants a song about baseball…..thats corny. But talk about how the fitted is a staple in the hood, or how its a southside tradition. Something!!! Make the song relevent to the topic….the fuckin hat!!!

No shit sherlock??? I’m simply stating my opinion just like you did. The diff is I’m not being a dick. I respect your opinion and didn’t take any shots at all on what you wrote. So I’m not sure what your prob is.

On another note, “Pushin I be pushin full throttle, if you don’t like the traffic get the fuck out of Chicago!” is one of the hottest lines about the Chi. And if you listen to rest of his verse, he is spittin about his experiences in Chicago…which sounds pretty relevant to me.

    Best lines:

“Movin’ I be movin’ full throttle/
If you don’t like the traffic/
Get the fuck outta Chicago” -Young General

    “Been about my paper since
    Harold was the Mayor”-Mikkey Halsted

“Wide eyed monster like a cyclops/
Skin and kill a cubby bear/
Turn him into White Sox” -Twone Gabz
