Kanye West Booed at United Center

Posted on February 25, 2011 by Andrew Barber

In one of the more bogus moves I’ve seen as of late, Kanye West was booed at last night’s Chicago Bulls/Miami Heat game at the United Center.  A home game, OBVS.  Various publications are reporting that Ye was booed upon arriving late to the game, but I truly believe it was just that good old Chicago hate shining through.  Kanye West, Don C and Virgil Abloh took a late afternoon flight in from NYC just to take in the high profile game (Chicago was victorious), that also featured our newly elected Mayor Rahm Emanuel in attendance.

I don’t believe I’ve ever seen Ye sitting courtside at a home game prior to this one, so I thought it was dope when TNT panned to him and Don  – that is until seconds later when the boos began to echo from the rafters of the United Center.  Is that any way to treat one of Chicago’s greatest talents?  What a terrible homecoming.  You, the fans at the United Center, win the FSD Bogus Award for the week.  If you’re still salty about Taylor Swift, get the fuck over it.

Like you just said thats prolly the first time Ye came to a Chicago game that you know of. Same for me and most other Bulls fans. Despite his status and all, the general notion is that Kanye dont fuck with Chicago so Chicago dont fuck with him. Hes a New York/LA guy. Only reason he was there is cause Bron was in town. Hes not a face Chicagoans clamor to. We claim him because he makes the city look good… most of the time…

Actually it was said that the writer doesnt believe that they have ever seen Ye sit courtside. at a game. Not that they have never seen Ye at a game. The issue here is that Kanye shouts out Chi-Town every chance he gets. What do you mean by “he don’t fuck with Chicago…he’s a NY/LA guy”? What should he be doing to not get booed by his hometown? Seriously…I wanna know.

ya’ll gotta understand 80 to 90% of the fans that be at the bulls games be them whites (no disrespect drew just sayin) is from the burbs or surrounding states (just like cubs fans smh) and not really plugged in or in tuned in with da city like that so who knows why the hell they was booing…ye knows that he really got love in the actual city despite some of that shit he be on and him not really moving around the city like people would like him to

I think not, when was the last time you went on MADISON to see a Bulls game? that shit is Out West and the hood is always in attendance at Bulls games, if you didn’t know. Why would you boo someone if you were not “in the know”. Only people that would boo him is people in the hood, who in many respects feel forgotten, and rightfully so. If white people in the burbs boo’d Ye it was because of his award show antics, not his music, I doubt they even know him.

On another note, I’m not surprised. Hell, I done seen Common, R. Kelly, and Twista get boo’d in Chicago, this is behavior is the norm when you don’t reach out to the city on a regular basis. Ask Common pre “Be” and R. Kelly pre “Gotham City”

Why would Kanye want to set up shop when he gets booed at a bball game in his home town? Haterzzz I tell ya! lol I mean I think Kanye puttin out good music is a good enough reason for our city to embrace him… Chicago isin’t an industry town.. that’s not gna change.

Nothing to do with Taylor Swift. Kanye was ranting on Twitter this past Wednesday (Feb. 23rd), “an abortion can cost a ballin’ n*gga up to 50gs maybe a 100. Gold diggin’ b*tches be getting pregnant on purpose.#STRAPUP my n*ggas!”. I’m thinking it probably has something to do with that.

was at the game. no one really booed kanye. i think because the people that owned the seats next to the bulls bench werent giving those up him and don c had to sit on the miami side therefore causing some people to believe he was rocking with them..but he wasnt..in fact he waited after the game on the court to show some love to DRose specifically..

maybe it was just them thinking he was a heat fan. either way, his abortion comments were really out of pocket but in the end none of this has to do with music.

    All of yall are right….

1.) The burbs are up on Ye…who do you think buys his music, watches his videos and anything bout himh
2.) His fat burger restaurant in the west burbs recently got shut down do to poor customer service/slow business.
3.) Some people like Taylor Swift way more than Ye soooooo…..
4.) He gets spotted at high profile game which just so happens to have Chicagos newly elected mayor in attendence. sn/ has the local news ever “panned” to Ye at previous games?

Yes there are haters but like it or not…Ye dont always get criticized for no reason. Fame gotta price.

they didn’t have to show him “love,” but the boos were a bit overboard, don’t you think? Based on your comments, you sound kinda douche bag-y as well. Wouldn’t it be rude if people boo’ed you everywhere you went?

Yeah you got the name “female entreprenuer” and i’m the douche right? I’m not hating on the man but his personality and ego comes off douchey to most americans. I think kanye’s music is great but he comes off too flamboyant. When the president of america goes out of his way to call you a dick you have to stop and reflect.

Chicago is definitely full of hate. That’s a shame. Kanye is one of the greatest artists of our time, so you would think Chicagoans would be proud of him. But nope, it’s that good ‘ol Midwest hate shining through. And that’s why I believe our city will never reach the heights that New York, Atl and other cities have…

I think that this is a comment that everybody is taking way out of context…. Kanye represents chicago and still hangs in Chicago quite frequently just recently he was at a mcdonalds at two in the morning ordering some food… And to say white people dont listen to his music is just absurd.. this is 2011 everybody is listening to Kanye west… Some people might not like his attitude sometimes but they are listening to him… As for the booing at the United Center I watched that entire game I dont remember the booing and Kanye probably doesnt either.

I was at this game. Kanye was applauded when they showed him on the jumbotron. They even kept playing “All of the Lights” which everyone (at least around me) appreciated. “Journalists” if you can even call yourselves that will write anything to make up drama. You probably weren’t even at the game and heard some boos on TV assuming that they were for Kanye.
