Bru’s News: DOWN FOR THE KAWS!

Posted on October 6, 2011 by FSD Staff

Bru’s News is Hebru Brantley’s new Arts & Culture column on Fake Shore Drive

For all of you who know about Kaws cool, for the rest of you sleepers please pay attention. Kaws is the hype! Maybe you seen his Companion figures or his signature double XX’s or more recently Kanye’s 808 album cover. Kaws a pioneering street artist turned gallery big shot has a new show in LA (how come Chicago never gets the good shit?) @ Honor Fraser Gallery entitled “Hold the Line”. That Shit Cray!!!!!! The show display his signature style of ‘SuperFlat’ paintings with huge 8 ft Companion sculptures half dissected with hyper-colored guts. Let me assure you that though his style is flat and at first glance looks like a graphic designed image…it’s not. The paintings are flawlessly executed in composition and color. I dare you to try and find a single brush stroke.
