This afternoon, I was treated to an early listening session of Kendrick Lamar’s major label debut, good kid, m.A.A.d city. Kendrick and the good people at TDE and Interscope played bits of the project for a select group at Nike’s L210 Loft in Chicago. We weren’t given any song titles or production credits, and were sworn to secrecy; but I can say it’s sounding pretty incredible. A richer Section. 80, if you will. I shared a few thoughts on Twitter, but that’s all can really say.
After the session, I caught up with Kendrick for a quick interview. We talk about Lady Gaga crashing his Pitchfork set, their friendship and why she was there. He also talks about potentially signing local artist Spenzo, and Dr. Dre’s involvement on good kid, m.A.A.d city. Look for the album on October 2nd.
