We’ll be offering up new instrumentals from rising producers weekly — free of charge — for you to rock over (and so you’ll stop rapping over “I’m Different”). Today we feature 23-year-old rising beatsmith, IKON. Inspired by Kanye’s College Dropout and Jay-Z’s Black Album, IKON began making beats during his freshman year of high school. Since then he’s been working his way through the system, producing for a plethora of Chicago acts, most recently for Saba on his very dope “Reggie.” IKON is also the owner of 509 Productions, an artist development company based here in the Chi. He’s most recently become a graduate from Columbia College Chicago, and has a lot of work on deck for 2013.
