Lucki first caught my attention a few weeks back when I opened the email containing “Count On Me.” I was engaged immediately. Others agreed as well, as the track was quickly picked up by outlets like the Chicago Reader. Lucki’s first look on the site was alongside Save Money’s Dally Auston, but it’s clear this young gun needs no cosign — he’s cold as is.
Tonight he upped the ante when this joint hit my inbox. “No Troubles,” which was produced by Nate Fox, a.k.a. the guy who did Chance The Rapper’s “Juice,” contains a slick Bob Marley sample and features Lucki waxing poetic about being a hand to hand hustler. There’s even some dope storytelling here, which is clearly a lost art in hip-hop these days. And for whatever reason, Lucki reminds me of the 2013 Chicago version of Young Bleed. Or something.
