Last Friday night, artist Hebru Brantley took over Chicago’s Lacuna Artist Lofts for his Downtown 88 birthday bash. And bash would be an understatement. Throughout the course of the evening, over 1700 people showed up to celebrate with Hebru and party to the sounds of Q-Tip and DJ Oreo. The capacity crowd was able to enjoy drinks courtesy of Red Bull, Hennessy and Skyy Vodka; and enjoy live entertainment like breakdancing, fire breathers, glass walkers, photo booths and video games from — you guessed it — 1988.
A lot of the Chi’s finest were in attendance, but if you missed out on the extravaganza, you can watch a recap in the video above. Let’s hope this becomes and annual event. Perhaps Downtown 89 next year?
