Video: Caleb James – 6AM

Posted on August 29, 2013 by Andrew Barber

Directed by Brandon Riley for N2ition Productions

The first time I heard “6AM” it struck a chord with me. It wasn’t just the sample of Snoop’s godbody second solo single, “Gin & Juice” — but of course that helped. It was more than that. It was the overall tone of the record. It was Caleb inflecting some much needed fun into rap music. It wasn’t overly lyrical, it wasn’t violent, it wasn’t a dance, it wasn’t preachy. It was just an awesome song. And sometimes that’s all that matters.

“6AM” has already started to pick up steam across the city, with club and radio DJs alike adding it into their mixshows and sets. I really wish Shade 45 or somebody would give FSD a radio show so we could give songs like this the burn they deserve. But I digress…

To further bring “6AM” to life, Caleb linked with N2ition Productions for the party-themed video. The nods to the “Gin & Juice” visual are everywhere, but if you were born after ’93 you probably don’t even know what I’m talking about. That being said, watch The Jones and his SaveMoney brethren do what they do best — FBSM. Grab The Jones here.
