Video: Chance The Rapper Brings Out Twista & Vic Mensa @ Lollapalooza

Chance The Rapper’s official Lollapalooza debut was a sight to see. Two years ago he popped up with Kids These Days, and last year Childish Gambino brought him out as a guest, but this year was his first slot as a headliner. Chano closed out the BMI stage yesterday evening, and you could tell something special was in the air just before he took the stage. Fans piled up as far as the eye could see to check Chance’s set, and the Acid Rapper did not disappoint — all expectations were not only met but slaughtered.

The backstage area was filled with local industry heads, Chance’s family, the Save Money Army and close friends to witness the spectacle. The whole set was killer, but when he brought out Vic Mensa and Twista for “Cocoa Butter Kisses,” the crowd hit a fever pitch. Vic’s energy was incredible, and when Twista crept from backstage it literally gave me chills — it was easily one of my favorite ‘rap moments’ since I’ve been operating FSD. The crowd went absolutely insane for Twista, despite the fact that most of them weren’t even alive for Adrenaline Rush.

Chance ran through most of Acid Rap and did a few joints from 10 Day, and another great moment was when he jumped in a baby pool and crowd-surfed. Luckily, we have video of that and him performing “Juice” below.
