Last night, the remaining living members of the WTC gathered at Union Park in Chicago to close out the fourth annual North Coast Music Fest. The rumor was that the group was going to perform 36 Chambers in full, but that rumor was only halfway true, as they only performed about half of the album. They did do the biggest records from 36, and then went into a handful of their other hits before their set was cut short due to an emergency evacuation.
Weather problems aside, the North Coast was a big success yet again, so don’t expect this Fest to be going anywhere anytime soon. Danny Brown, A-Trak, Pugs Atomz, Psalm One and the W all held it down on the hip-hop side, and it’s great to see rap acts in the festival setting.
The Wu set was crazy, but those lucky enough to hit the official NCMF after party at Cobra Lounge got a real treat. The party was only announced as a U-God and RZA event, but almost all of the Wu showed up and and gave the crowd an intimate concert. They ran through a slew of their hits, freestyled for the crowd, and RZA even jumped behind the tables for a DJ set.
