FSD: What impact do you want to have in Chicago and outside of Chicago?

God:  You got to be big in your city. The people in your city got to get behind you. They got to believe in you first.

My aim, I want to go diamond. I want to do them crazy numbers they were doing back in the 90s. I want people to feel me all across the country, all across the nation, all across the world. I think about that type of shit. At the same time I like to stay grounded. When people listen to my music I want them to feel like they in Chicago.

When you pop that Bible in, I want them to feel the temperature of the Chi because it’s something real that’s going on out here that people need to know about. It’s more than just the gangs, more than just niggas getting killed, and niggas servin — its real out here. Its a good side to Chicago that people need to know about too, which we gone get into.

FSD: What do you say to those who are thrown off or offended by your name?

God:  All my bros, we call each other ‘God’. Instead of calling each other ‘nigga,’ we try to do something positive. It’s enough negative shit going on in Chicago. The God thing is just to uplift each other. You’re more than just a man — you got to dig down and find your Godliness. Everybody got God in them, so all you got to do is dig down deep and find it.

FSD: What are your musical influences?

God: I studied that game. I been out here in these streets — I know that, I mastered that. Then I got the opportunity to really do this [rap] shit for real. So I studied the game and I seen what worked. I seen what was successful. I’m looking for longevity in the game. I ain’t looking for no overnight success. I’m willing to work for my shit.

My influences are the late, great Biggie Smalls. Hov is a big influence. I probably listen to all his records. I listen to a lot of Wayne. I listen to everybody. I’m able to listen to music and still be able to come up with my own shit and not bite.

FSD:  What are your stand out songs on the project?

God: That “Broke,” people love it. That’s undeniable. My favorite song, what I want people to listen to, is that “Focused.”
For the streets, you got “Servin.” That’s gone get everybody turnt up. That basically represent my whole repertoire.
