Congrats are in order for Mick Jenkins as the rising emcee has decided to align himself with Johnny Shipes and Cinematic Music Group. Definitely a great look for Mick. XXL caught up with Mick who spoke on working with Shipes and partnering with Cinematic:
“Jonny Shipes is the only person that approached me offering to work for free,” he tells XXL exclusively. After growing and working together, as well as exploring other options, I’m happy to make the decision to partner with Cinematic Music Group. I’m making movies anyway.”
In honor of the good news, Mick decided to give everyone the Chuck Strangers-produced “Lazarus” from his long-awaited The Water[s] project. Mick doesn’t play on the mic and this joint is yet another solid example of why he’s one of our favorite emcees.
The Water[s] drops August 12th. Listen to “Lazarus” below.
