FINALLY. We FINALLY have a release date for Jeremih’s long-awaited third album on Def Jam, which was previously to be titled Thumpy Johnson. It’s been almost four years since the release of his last project on the label, 2010’s All About You. So it’s a relief to hear it’s actually coming — and the new date in question is September 30th (which is basically four years to the day).

The great news is that Jeremih has renamed the project, titling this new opus Late Nights: The Album, because ‘Mih claims he’s in the same zone as he was when he recorded the best work of his career, 2012’s Late Nights — which I still bump religiously.

The last body of work I put out was ‘Late Nights.’ I still feel like how I was feeling when I recorded that. I was traveling, up late nights, recording all the time. It just felt like every record was catering to… I imagined if it was a big bed in the club, everybody would be in one big ass orgy off of all the songs [on the LP]. My first two albums I was making sad songs. I don’t feel like that no more. I was in a relationship then. I’m single as hell right now. You’re getting the best of my last single years. [Laughs]

Jeremih also has a new mixtape, NOMA (Not On My Album), dropping Monday (8/4)
