The boy Ben Niespodziany stays working. If you remember, last year he dropped his first-ever WindChill series, which featured instrumentals from Donnie Trumpet, Saba, Martin $ky, Tree and many others. Well, he’s back for the 2015 with a three part installment of his Chi City instrumental round-up. You’ll be getting these projects throughout this week on May 25 (today, duh), the 27th and 29th. So if you’re into lush soundscapes, Ben’s compilation will be right up your alley.

But I’ll let Ben explain further, and shouts to them for the looks. But yes, today is the kick-off. Please enjoy.

At nineteen tracks, it was the first Chicago instrumental compilation of its kind. It allowed the world to continue following the buzzing Chicago music scene, but it redirected them over to the attention of the producer. Stripping away the vocals, WindChill was an achievement and it was more or less a test run to see how to curate and what I was capable of curating.

Following WindChill, I helped to curated W2NDCH2LL last August. W2NDCH2LL was made up of two instrumental releases. Again all Chicago and again with a different producer per track.

Now, to close out the series in a proper fashion (power of threes, right?), I am closing with W3NDCH3LL. Call it The Final Wind. To be released as three EPs of thirteen songs each (thirteen songs, 39 producers, power of threes, right?), W3NDCH3LL is being released exactly a year after I released the first WindChill compilation. In total, this will be five Chicago instrumental compilations in

one year. Thanks to everyone that has helped, from beginning to end. The Windy City is shining brightly this week and I couldn’t be happier.

The Soul segment kickstarts our Chicago adventure (hence the tour bus in the artwork provided by Via Rosa), taking you back into the past for some sample-heavy goodness.
