After months of leaks, teasers and previews (we ran ours back in April), Mick Jenkins’ long-awaited project, Wave[s] is finally here and available for “First Listen” courtesy of NPR. The project is nine tracks deep, and features production from Kaytranada, Stefan Ponce, THEMpeople and others. It’s a fantastic piece of work from front to back, but is a departure from his incredibly brilliant last project, The Water[s].
Mick has stated that he believes this record is a bit more “fun” than the last, but whatever. Any Mick is good Mick, and this is him opening up to the world a bit. Enjoying the fruits of his labor.
