I woke and saw some sites posting that Lupe had dropped a new single titled “Coulda Been.” But immediately upon pressing play I recognized it as one of the great Lupe leaks from close to a decade ago. I know FSD was responsible for a slew of those (sorry Lu!), but we had no hand in this one. Ha! It popped up on a few ‘Best Of’ and ‘Unreleased’ Lu tapes from yesteryear, and features some of his best wordplay. For some reason, Lu decided to officially release it via fine digital retailers today. He hasn’t explained why, but he’s Lupe so he can do what the eff he wants.
This might be vintage, but it’s still better than most things out now. Sorry I’m not sorry. This is old to some, but likely new to many. Listen below.
