Perhaps even more than a music city, Chicago is a basketball city. With a historically popular high school basketball circuit watched by the entire country, sometimes it’s forgotten that these are kids, often coming from extremely poor families and essentially competing for the oppurtunity to possibly feed their loved ones.
Chance and DWade combined their forces to produce a doc on Orr’s basketball academy program, chronicling their wins and losses, both on and off the court. Touching on the struggles at home many of these young men face, plus having to face the violence of their communities, this project looks like it will strike some emotional cords, as well as add to Chance’s already excellent community activism resume. A project like this could only be handled by hometown heroes like him and DWade, and by all accounts it looks like they absolutely deliver.
