The Era’s annual Footwork Youth Festival returns to Chicago on December 4th, 2022.
The homie Bulb just tapped in and provided some details on the event which you can read below. Be sure to RSVP and spread the world.
The Youth Footwork Festival will be an interactive three-hour event curated by The Era, showcasing the diverse range of art, culture, and expression that Footwork encompasses in Chicago. The event’s goal is to strengthen Youth’s understanding of the different ways Footwork engages through dance practices, cultural production, education, and personal mentorship. Youth will have the opportunity at the Festival to learn and interact with various forms of the culture, including battling, filming/video production, fashion design, education, and DJing. The Festival will be structured in three different “footwork stations” where each Youth can have individual leadership and creative control by taking turns leading and following (as a collective) at each station. Additionally, Youth will have the opportunity to be paired with a specific member within The Era to learn how to work collectively and individually throughout the Festival. Family members, alongside attendants, will be able to enjoy the festivities. At the same time, the Youth rotate freely between footwork stations for the first two hours of the Festival and then join together for a team battle and a youth performance to end the night, curated and choreographed by The Era Footwork Collective. DJ Spinn and DJ Chad (DJ Rashad’s son) will also be playing together, handling all of the sounds for the night and the performance.
