Okay, so technically this song isn’t new. This joint is like 10+ years old. But I’ve never heard it sans tags, or with all of these artists on the same version. I’ve either heard it with just Beans on it (he’s not on this version), or Raekwon, or Cons. But not all at the same time. It was a mixtape staple back when anything Kanye breathed on was landing placements. Actually, that still holds true in 2015, so not much has changed.
I’m guessing this beat was on one of his early beat tapes that everyone in the industry had, and all these emcees just happened to record to it and Absolut stitched it together. I could be wrong, though. Either way, it’s nice to hear it crisp, clear and (somewhat) completed. This is vintage Ye production, and I most definitely miss this sound. Those days are long gone, but take a walk down memory lane below.
