Last Friday, Chicago R&B crooner, Jeremih, shocked fans with the release of his long-delayed and highly-anticipated project, Late Nights: The Album. It literally dropped out of the blue, and fans rejoiced. Personally, I’ve been waiting on this album since it was announced a few years back. In fact, it was probably my most anticipated Chicago release of the year.
Well, it’s here and it’s great. Despite what Jeremih and 50 Cent might say. It’s stacked front to back. And in celebration of the release, Jeremih has embarked on a short three-city promo tour, where he’s doing free concerts in NYC, Chicago and LA. Last night, he made his homecoming stop at the Double Door in Chicago and he did not disappoint.
He gave fans a run down of the hits in his catalog, played joints from Late Nights (both the mixtape and the album) and even surprised the crowd by bringing out another hometown hero, Chance The Rapper. Chance emerged to perform his verse from “Planes,” and even kicked an impromptu freestyle for the crowd before leaving to “Angels.” Pretty amazing for a free event.
Check out Chano doing “Planes” up top, and him handling a freestyle below. Be sure to cop Late Nights: The Album right now.
