Our friends over at 119 Productions have teamed up with the incredibly dope producer, Mojek, for a surprise project that’s due out at some point in 2016 (mid-January they claim.) Seriously, Mojek is crazy with it — we’re super excited for this.
Today, he kicks off the campaign with his first release, “The World,” which features Ric Wilson. The world isn’t enough, and Mo and Ric are after that global domination. I’ll let Mojek explain the project with 119 a bit further below.
“119 PRODUCTIONS is proud to bring you the first in our Artist Series and we couldn’t be happier to have the premier installment be with a man who has innovated grooves in Chicago for some time now and has had a killer 2015. MOJEK, whose insane production can flip any cut, whip up original knocks has murked dance floors and wav files alike with a sound that has carried worldwide. So it’s only right 119 and Mojek have teamed up to bring you an EP called World of Mojek. Add to that we’re happy to bring you the first single from the project, “The World”, featuring Ric Wilson who is fresh on the heels of his latest tape The Sun Was Out. Enough from us though, here’s what the maestro has to say about the track:
“I made The World with Ric in homage to Chicago’s history of Black House music and also a certain french duo who was heavily inspired by it. I took some inspiration from disco & funk like the OGs but also wanted to create a darker, more tense mood that reflects the sonics of both old & new.”
