Former Fenger High School principal Liz Dozier stopped by Shade 45 earlier today to chop it up with Sway, Heather B, Tracy G and DB about her position as Managing Director at the new Chicago Beyond foundation. The foundation has partnered with the University of Chicago and is currently looking to kickstart everything by investing in winning ideas across two categories in their first GO Innovate challenge.
Looking to support ideas and programs that are supporting getting the youth reengaged in school, going to college, graduating and working, Chicago Beyond is offering up to $2 million dollars for programs or ideas that ‘win’ their GO Innovate challenge. Yes, you read that correctly — you can be granted up to $2 million dollars for your program or idea that’s supporting the youth the way that Chicago Beyond is looking to.
The Sway in the Morning team also asked Liz about her thoughts on Spike Lee’s ‘Chi-Raq’ and even gave her a quick Chicago hip hop history quiz. Watch the full interview with Liz below and be sure to visit Chicago Beyond’s website for more info on the GO Innovate challenge, the organization’s goals and more.
