Last year, Ty Money’s Cinco De Money was one of my favorite projects of the year. But you know that by now. One of the obvious standouts from the album was “Rickey Killa,” a track where Ty turned into the character who ruthlessly killed Rickey in Boyz In The Hood. Why? Because throughout his entire life, people have told Ty he looks just like the fictional Rickey assassin. So he flipped that into a concept record, which has since morphed into a short film. Brilliant, right?

Enter “Boyz In The Hood,” the first of Ty’s three-part video trilogy surrounding the idea which was born on “Rickey Killa.” Yeah, he’s bringing this creative vision to life. Who was Rickey’s killer? What lead him to that point? How did he grow up? What did he do afterwards? Well, Ty lays it all out for you in this riveting new video trilogy. And today, we’re happy to world premiere part one of with “Boyz In The Hood.” This is the kick-off, the beginning. So watch this all come together with the video under the jump.

Also, just last week, Ty held a private screening for all three videos at a local AMC Theater. I’ve included that recap video below as well. From the video you can tell just how crazy the theater was. Every seen a movie theater rap along to every word? I haven’t. Now you can, too.
