Are Mano and Abel back in the lab making magic happen yet again? Well, if this picture Weeknd just posted to his Instagram is any indication, then that answer is an emphatic yes. Hours ago, The Weeknd shared this picture of his long-time collaborator Doc McKinney and Mano hard at work in the lab, with a simple Star Trek sign as the caption.
After the massive success of Mano’s production on The Weeknd’s “The Hills,” which now stands at 7 million records sold (gasp!), it would make sense that these two would get back to business. Because, well, business was booming last time. They’ve won countless awards from ASCAP, Billboard and the heralded Grammy, so it’s only right to make lightening strike twice.
The success of “The Hills” also got me thinking: does Mano have the highest selling single of any Chicago producer ever? I’m almost positive neither Kanye or R. Kelly produced any single that sold 7 million but I could be wrong. “The Hills” might end up going diamond. Just some food for thought.
