A few years ago, I was honored to take part in the kickoff for Young Chicago Authors’ ‘Chicago Track’ program. It’s now an inaugural program in its third year, and for this year’s rollout they’ve treated it almost as a ‘Making The Band’ type of campaign, taking their participants and grooming them for the music industry. The program hopes to strengthen their skills as artist, and prepare them with the knowledge and expertise needed to break through to the next level of the music biz. It’s a complicated industry to navigate, but Chicago Track is giving them the game they need to excel.
The final result? The two videos below that we’re happy to world premiere below. This group worked diligently to complete the visuals, which look as good as anything in the local Chicago scene. The videos are polished, professional and have the look and feel of something a major label would put out. So bravo to YCA and the entire Chicago Track program.
The first clip, “Wait For You,” is from Kaina and Oby (with Yadda Yadda on production), and is a visually pleasing trip to the flower shop. It’s one of those rare occasions where the video and the song mesh perfectly and actually compliment each other.
The second clip is titled “Direction” and it features the work of LyriQ The Misfit, Elton Aura and production from Tree. It’s a breezy and boozy walk through a Chicago kickback, and a clear eyed trip to Church — all with a nice beat switch towards the end.
All in all, both records and visuals are dope, and perfectly highlight the great work YCA is doing with their Chicago Track program. May it live on forever.
