Common & Q-Tip Forming A Group Called The Standard?

Posted on September 16, 2010 by Andrew Barber

OBVIOUSLY this would be dope.  One of the dopest things in the history of hip-hop. But I’m not holding my breath.  Hip-Hop has let me down one too many times.

Let’s take a trip down memory lane:

CRS (Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, Pharrell Williams)
Fantastic Four (Common, Pharoahe Monch, Black Thought, Talib Kweli)
Chairmen of the Boards (Dr. Dre & Timbaland)
Golden State (Xzibit, Ras Kass, Saafir)
Murder Inc. (Jay-Z, DMX, Ja Rule)

…And the number one pumpfake supergroup of all time: Helter Skelter (Ice Cube + Dr. Dre). Those guys ruined my early teens waiting on that one.

And there’s like a thousand more.

Damn I was disappointed with CRS. That would have set a higher standard in hip hop.
