Over the past few days, seemingly out of the blue, rappers like Soulja Boy and Lil B have come out of the woodwork to address Lupe in some form or fashion. I guess Lu is the smart rapper du jour for this young (and often misinformed) generation. In a recent interview with XXL Magazine, Soulja Boy, when asked about his lyrical prowess, quipped:
“I don’t want to be super-Lupe-Fiasco-lyrical and n***** don’t know what the fuck I’m talking about,”
Say word? That’s what we’re on? I feel like we’ve heard this all before – a case of deja vu, if you will. I understand that Lu’s complex rhyme patterns and extended vocabulary might go over the head of the casual hip-hop fan (or human being), but some of you are just plain listening too slow. So what if you have to rewind the verse a few times to get to the Tootsie Roll center of aTootsie Pop; many of us find joy in putting the puzzle together. I guess that’s not fun for everyone, huh? Remember when rappers used to brag about being “Super Lyrical”? That title was once a badge of honor. Pun is probably doing barrel rolls in his grave as you read this.
So D’Andre, you may not want that super lyrical shit, but here’s a glass of lemonade for those lemons you tossed Lu’s way. All in good fun, of course.

First of all, who the fuck is Soulja Boy to diss Lupe? Secondly, I still think Lupe hasn’t really had a song I truly like. I’m a pop fan who likes underground. I see a star in Lupe but his lyrics are over most pop fans heads. We need more Chicago music on the map.

nothin to do with what souljaboy meant but there have been other rappers who think sometimes do not want to over complicate things so their message can be conveyed. in this case though, souljaboy has no real message and it does not apply but you don’t need some complicated rhyme to be good. eminem doesn’t clutter his songs with hard to decipher meanings and his music works great. i just do not get why he mentioned lupe though, he’s not that hard to follow compared to some wu-tang affiliate.
