I can’t say I saw this coming, but it doesn’t surprise me in the least bit. It makes sesnse though, seeing as Groupon’s pre-sale tix for the North Coast Music Fest (note: not a Live Nation event) was the fastest selling Groupon deal ever. More money to fold.
Chicago-based daily deals juggernaut Groupon Inc. and Live Nation Entertainment, the country’s largest concert promoter, have created a joint venture called GrouponLive that will sell discounted tickets to events.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. GrouponLive is expected to be launched by the summer, the companies said Monday in a joint announcement. The grouponlive.com website is open for consumers to register their e-mail addresses. They “will have access to limited-time deals on a variety of events across North America,” the companies said.
