Obviously, I get a ton of artist submissions everyday, and it can be quite the daunting task to try and sort through them all. However, this submission in particular grabbed my attention, as it’s not everyday you get something with “Produced by Hurt-M-Badd” in the subject line. I’ve never heard of SmooveSmoove (he’s from Chicago), and typically I’d ignore a song called “X-Box” (my gamer swag is on E), but if you’ve got a track produced by the man behind “Hail Mary”, I’m going to listen.
If you guys don’t know who Hurt-M-Badd is (I’m certain you know his work, just not his name), he produced a bulk of 2Pac’s Makaveli album. Known as the producer in the “wack room” at Can-Am Studios (Death Row’s home in the mid-90s), he was able to bring some of Pac’s innermost feelings and demons of life on Pac’s final living album: The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory. Hurt-M then went on to work with a slew of Rap-A-Lot artists after Pac’s death, but has all but disappeared as a producer over the past 10 years; so yeah, this came out of leftfield.
Smoovee smoove, is a great lyricist. I had the pleasure of working with. Hurt-M-Badd as well. one singing producer.
